Weddings are beautiful stories captured in timeless frames. There's something about the raw, untouched emotions of love that make each photo a masterpiece, a story waiting to be told. As wedding photographers, we have come to understand that every picture has a tale, a memory that deserves to be retained with grace and charm. This blog post is a shout out to all the birds out there, and by that, we mean all the free-spirited wedding photographers who dare to venture out of the traditional church or banquet hall venues and embrace what natural outdoor settings, like beach venues, have to offer. But also - the literal birds that add to the photos taken in these settings!

We often find myself drawn towards the 'golden hour', that magic time just before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and absolutely perfect for creating stunning images with a beautiful depth of field. The resulting photos are dusted with a warm, golden glow, giving them a romantic and ethereal feel. Indoor venues offer window lighting that can result in great photos, but there is nothing like the great outdoors with natural light. With outdoor venues, we get to be present in nature while capturing some of the most emotional and candid moments of the day, as the excitement starts to settle down and gives way to more intimate and reflective moments.

Recently, we've also started experiment with film photography at weddings and engagement sessions. There's something incredibly appealing about the unpredictability and uniqueness that comes with film. Each photo is a surprise, a moment captured in its rawest form. The textures, the grain, the vibrant colors - every element adds a unique character to the photo that's hard to replicate with digital photography.

One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures, traditions, and landscapes. Sometimes our adventures take us to some really special places. The Allen family cottage is one of them. A venue that has played host to two family weddings. Owned by grandparents that have been married for 70 years. A dress that has been worn by a mother and both of her daughters. And a day that didn&rsquo;t go quite as planned. While I was already confident in our choice of Two Roads North, the photos were moody, vintage, and we could not believe how perfectly they captured the emotion and overall aesthetic. Our Diamond and Video packages include an epic 3-5 minute highlight film! We record clips of the most important moments and edit them together into a highlight video that captures the unique energy of your wedding day. In addition to digital video coverage, we use a vintage Super 8 film camera as well. This allows us to incorporate the Super 8 footage with the digital footage to create an eclectic blend of vintage and modern styles for your wedding highlight film.
